Free Tax Clinic - 2025

The Nepalese Canadian Community Services (NCCS) recently hosted a successful Free Tax Clinic specifically designed to support international students and newcomers in the Scarborough community. This initiative provided essential financial guidance to those navigating the Canadian tax system for the first time.

The event was held on March 21, 2026, at the Sagoon Group Exp Realty office on Eglinton Ave East. Running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the clinic offered a full day of dedicated service to help community members meet their filing obligations.

Expert Support for New Arrivals

Attendees benefited from the professional expertise of seasoned Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs) who volunteered their time:

  • Bidhya Bhusan Karki: CPA, CGA, FCCA, MBA, MA ECO.
  • Indira Rijal: CPA, LPA.
  • Chandra Panthee: CPA, CGA.

These experts, along with a team of dedicated tax volunteers, worked closely with participants to ensure their taxes were filed accurately and efficiently.

Empowering the Community

The clinic focused on more than just paperwork; it was about ensuring that newcomers and students received the financial support they were entitled to. Key highlights included:

  • Maximizing Refunds: Helping participants identify and claim all eligible tax credits and benefits.
  • Personalized Guidance: Providing one-on-one support tailored to the unique financial situations of international students.
  • Accuracy: Ensuring all filings complied with current regulations to prevent future issues with the CRA.

A High-Demand Event

Due to the personalized nature of the service, registration was limited to the first 70 individuals. The high level of interest underscored the vital need for accessible financial services within the newcomer community. By providing these services free of charge, NCCS continues to uphold its mission: "Together We Serve, Together We Grow."

This event served to the power of community volunteerism and professional mentorship in helping new Canadians build a solid financial foundation.
